About Susan Nielsen
Hello,
Thanks for dropping by.
So I said "Ok" and I took my limited watercolor tools up to Dawna and Irises house and before you know it I was totally hooked!
I had written a Childrens book that was self published in 2012 and when some agencies were interested in the ideas in the book regarding child safety, the book was too complicated so I was editing it down to a picture book and I wanted watercolor pictures. I approached Dawna to paint the pictures and well the rest is history... They said no but we can teach you how to paint it yourself. Here I am two seasons later...feeling so blessed to have come so far...
I began my journey into the world of watercolor at age 60. As a retired native San Diegan, who now resides in the desert, I have found the color green to be one of my favorites!.
I have been fortunate to travel to many fascinating and beautiful places. My memories and photographs give me inspiration and as my brush strokes color across the paper, I enter my Zen place... A place where chronic pain does not exist..
I hope that anyone who suffers or who has suffered will find the wonderful solace I have found in painting.. My pain can be all consuming...but as soon as I dip the brush into the "ball" jar of water my mind is lost on the empty paper waiting... waiting for my vision for the paper to appear...an idea, a sketch, then in beautiful watercolors...I try every day, and everyday is another lesson!
I hope you enjoy my interpretations of life...
Thanks for checking out my art!
Toodles...Suzie
